Baseball season ends today. Jared has had a blast.
He hit his first honest-to-goodness home run. Hello, goodbye!
He's been pitching this season, and our little lefty is quite a ringer. Aaron coached his team this year. Each boy earned a nickname from "coach" and Jared is "En Fuego"...on fire! Pretty fitting. The other Spraguelings and I watched the games from behind home plate. We could see Jared pitching, had a good view of him on first base where he alternately played, and got to watch him up close every time he came up to bat. But really we chose that spot because it's the place we were least likely to get our clocks cleaned by a stray foul ball. It only took me one game and three near death experiences to learn that the first base line is not where you want to sit. It only took Finley and Thomas two games and nine tantrums/stroller incarcerations to learn that the big picnic blanket is our boundary and if you wander off of it and into the street, that's the end of the fun for you. We struck up a few new friendships with a few fantastic families and had a great season enjoying America's best and brightest playing America's favorite pastime. And look at that little stud in his uniform! I want one of his collectible cards. It'll be worth big bucks someday.
